Our First Appointment!

Yesterday afternoon was our first appointment with my OB. We sat down for a long time and she went over lots of info, and all of the do's and don'ts and asked if we had any questions. The best part came at the end when she said we would do a quick ultrasound.
I was pretty excited because all I have really wanted is some sort of verification that there was actually a baby in there since I got my BFP. The office I go to just doesn't do ultrasounds at the drop of a hat, you either have to be having problems or not know how far along you are, and I was not about to make stuff up. She knows me better than that anyways, especially since we were about to do the IUI. And I have been lucky--only some mild cramping the first couple weeks and no spotting at all. And just mild nausea, no vomiting or anything unmanageable. I feel blessed that I have had a really great pregnancy so far!

Right away she was like ok, yup, there is the baby!! I was desperately searching the screen for the heartbeat but had no clue what I was looking for. And she was like ok, there is the heartbeat...and you could see the tiniest little flicker!! I felt instantly relieved...she measured the heartbeat and it was 165 bpm which she said was totally normal! (Everyone keeps telling me now that I must be having a girl since the HB is higher!) So yeah, basically she said that everything looked great....cervix was nice and closed tight, you could see two arms, two legs, eyes, etc. Heartbeat was there. She also said that since everything looked so good that my chance of having a miscarriage at this point was very very low. It was awesome...and just so completely surreal. It's like Ok, there is for real a baby in there. And the baby was flailing all around, it was so cute. Chris said that it looked like the baby was boxing. Also it was awesome to watch his face, and just see all his expressions and that look of awe. I can't wait to find out what it is, just to see his face again!!! It was such a great moment. We were so happy!

Afterward we were both pretty hungry so we went and ate at Noodles & Company. I told him that I think we should make it a tradition that we go and eat somewhere after our appointments, just because it is only going to be the two of us for a little while longer. We have to enjoy it while we can (not that we will miss it, or not that we haven't enjoyed it the past 5 1/2 years we have been together!)

Today I also told my boss. He was really great about it, and has been joking around with me all day ever since. I am thankful for that! My coworker actually came up and thanked me for putting him in a good mood, I was like wow! ok! That kinda surprised me!

And now, for some pictures of our little bean!

Alien baby!

I think it is funny that you can see the reflection of my BRIGHT green t-shirt in this, haha. (I took the pictures with my camera, I didn't have the patience to scan them.)

So cool! Congrats! I think I found your blog on the bump. Feel free to check mine out too! (Blissandbaby from The Bump)

P.s. from looking at your timeline on the right side of your page it seems like we have a similar TTC situation. I was about to start clomid & got a BFP! WooHoo :)

I am so happy for you! I remember when I was 10 weeks pregnant like it was yesterday! And my little guy had a fast heart rate to start and as he grew it slowed to around the 140-150s so who knows!

He or she is precious already! :) I am so, so happy for you!

And just so you know, Knox's heart rate was in the 160s for my entire pregnancy... and he's definitely male!

Congrats!!! As far as the girl thing goes, Sully's heartbeat was 168 the first time we heard it, so take it with a grain of salt!

That being said, no matter what you get, you're going to be so excited!

Thanks everyone! I guess we will just have to see about that whole HB thing! :) I have also been told that "I'm having a boy since I have not been that sick." Although I know several people who were sick when pregnant with boys.

Oh Anne I am so excited for you! I think it was on Saturday I was folding laundry and for some reason you came to my mind. I hadn't checked your blog in a while and I was so glad I did! I didn't know you were pregnant! I have been praying for you and Chris and will continue to do so. I hope you have a smooth pregnancy and no morning sickness. I am looking forward to reading more about what you are thinking and how you are feeling. Enjoy every second! Oh, you and Chris should have LOTS of dates, it's much easier now. =)
